01CAB2368dal First up was Don. He greeted us with the perennial favorite, Hammond of Texas's, 02CAB2369dal Listening to Don's rich, deep voice read is hypnotic. His obviously compiled the reading list just for us and it was very well received. His warm tones provoke a sense of security and well-being, like being read a bedtime story. Very, very enjoyable. 03CAB2376dal Next up was Peter Williams, who was celebrating the anniversary of Bob Marley's birth by travelling to cons and giving exposure to Marley's as well as more traditional Jamaican music. 04CAB2378dal Peter had already completed his panel earlier in the day and changed out of his zippered sweat top into a this black shirt, a very good look for him. :-) 05CAB2387dal He told us a little bit about Jamaican music, taught us a chorus to an audience participation song, and told us briefly about how his father-in-law was the one who started him on his harmonica habit. 06CAB2396dal His emotion was palpable while singing a Marley tune. He is clearly not comfortable singing on stage for us, which speaks to how deeply he feels about making this tribute to a beloved Jamaican. 07CAB2398dal He closed his portion of the show with another song on which he accompanied himself on harmonica. 08CAB2399dal Can't have too many pics of a beautiful man blowing on a mouth organ, can we? I didn't think so, either. 09CAB2400dal It's a shame he's uncomfortable singing because his pitch is good and he lacks just the confidence. Just as Don's choice in reading material gave us a great glimpse into who he is as a person, Peter's choice of music to share with us was a window into his values and passions. I love that cabaret gives the actors another way to interact with the fans. 10CAB2405dal Teryl absolutely stole the show. She arrived on stage as the ball of energy that she has been everytime I've seen her. As always, I'm tempted to add a warning that Teryl is a professional shoe wearer and her boots should not be attempted at home. 11CAB2408dal Teryl shows off her 12CAB2410dal ...and announces that she stopped off at Christopher's room on her way down and had a snort of Scotch. Now I'm doubly impressed at her grace in those heels. 13CAB2411dal I purchased cabaret tickets the instant I knew about them when I saw that Teryl was going to perform. I know that she'd started out as a dancer and that her first theater was musical, cabaret seemed *made* for her. And so it was. 14CAB2413dal Teryl tells us that her voice coach has noticed that she tends to choose pieces that are about getting older or getting laid... 15CAB2415dal ...though not necessarily in that order. 16CAB2417dal Teryl notices that the sparse crowd is scattered through the seats, verifies that the folks in the back are so far back because they're in the 17CAB2419dal Seating arrangements made, Teryl is ready to start. 18CAB2427dal She introduces the song by describing it. Some clever soul in the audience has either a great knowledge of musicals or has seen Teryl perform this before because she called out the titles -- correctly -- for each one. 19CAB2428dal Teryl notices some people she knows in the audience briefly tells that Adele and her family hosted her when she was in the U.K. 20CAB2431dal Teryl is quite simply one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen.
