Don gets choked up multiple times in talking to the crowd about his decision to leave Stargate SG-1 as a regular character. He thinks of the cast and crew, "as family," and "is always available when they need him," but a life-threatening bulge in his lower aorta was discovered several years ago and has changed his priorities. He's fine now after surgery. He realized that he wanted to be remembered as an artist rather than as an actor. He has changed his diet and his day job to live longer and to concentrate his efforts on his paintings. He has "too many paintings left in him" to put off his dream any longer. He has an offer to open a one man show in a Paris museum if he can paint enough canvases in the next two years.
