1PS1098 Talk about wasted opportunities! I used my lunch time with Chris Judge to get an informal photo for inclusion in my brother's photo album (a running family joke) and relied on getting a good picture with him during the afternoon's official portrait-taking. Had I known that poor planning on the organizers' part would lead to the melt-down and thus, no individual picture with Chris, I most certainly would have used this opportunity to get a good picture, even if it meant delaying him a couple minutes more to get one. Live and learn, huh? 2PS641020-10A While loitering around in what turned out to be a seven hour wait for the official pictures that didn't quite happen, I lucked into Jason Schombing and asked if I could have my picture taken with him. He agreed and quickly pulled me into a great hug! If you ever get the chance, don't hesitate to ask him. He's very friendly, happy to pose with you, and the picture is a complete bonus to the wonderful hug. 3PS641020-10Ac A close-up of the same photo. Yeah, I'm blushing a bit from surprise; at most, I'd thought he might put an arm around me. He had no idea I was an archaeologist, even. Just a nice guy making a fan happy. 4PS641020-11A So...I'm waiting for my turn to have the 5PS641020-12A I was flabbergasted to see that Michael Shanks, one of the stars of the show, had been placed in the back row and nowhere near the fan. For that matter, what is Don Davis doing back there? I realize there are only so many slots near a fan but...really! I went with the top goals of meeting and/or hearing Chris, Michael, and Teryl. I had lunch with Chris (and Teryl's grandmother) and saw Teryl onstage twice. I had a lousy seat when Michael was onstage and he didn't say much so I was feeling lots of disappointment when these 6PS641020-13A I had the flash off because I knew they'd tolerate my taking pictures so long as I didn't interfere with the business at hand. Alas, my photo skills have been limited to the 7PS641020-14A Corin has noticed I'm taking pics and kindly looks into the camera. Too bad I'm no photographer. 8PS641020-15A ...and slowly others do. Being either good sports or natural hams (or both!) they look at the amera and smile for me. All the more amazing when you consider that while I'd been waiting since about 2 p.m., these folks had been posing for photos since about then. Very, very nice of them to be as generous to the last fan as they were to the first. 9PS1113 At this point, I'm plotting to get Michael moved for my picture even if it is supposed to be 10PS1114 I love these people! Everyone is supposed to be 10PSMyPhoto When it came to my turn, I asked Amanda as nicely as I could if she would please switch with Michael since I was an archaeologist and I'd come to meet him. She was very nice and cheerfully granted my request. I was happy, Michael sat, I sat...and then he put his arm around me and pulled me over. My brain went offline and I remember none of this picture. *sigh* That explains the awful, goofy grin on my face, eh? Michael single-handedly - literally - salvaged the photo for me. I'd still have loved to rearranged everyone so I could have had Amanda and Don at hand, too, but I knew a massive rearrangement would have gotten protests. 11PS1116 About now my brain is working again. Sort of. I pick up the cameras and start adding to my 12PS1117 Teryl makes every fan feel special. I know I've said it before but I love this woman. She came out during one of the breaks to personally apologize to every fan that it was taking so long, even though she clearly had nothing to do with the planning failures that led to the problems. Dougie carried cups of water to fans who had spent hours waiting in line. The actors went above and beyond to make it clear that they appreciate their fans. 13PS1118 Chris notices me taking pics and smiles again for me. He's probably wondering why I said I flew to Gatecon to meet Michael but bought lunch with him instead of the Q&A Michael hosted. Yanno, it's one of those... 14PS1119 Prepping for the next official picture
