Gary and Corin talked about the difficulty inherent in the audition process. Most often, the director can't tell you what he or she wants but will know it when he or she sees it. Gary did a great recreation of how he tried out for his Stargate role. Reaching deep inside to find a new and different way to read the lines, "Chevron One...locked. Chevron Two...locked. ... Chevron Seven, engaged!" he decided to do a gradually-building comedy delivery instead of reading it like a grocery list. At the end, he had the directors and producers hysterically laughing and wiping tears from his eyes. He started for the door, happy to get praise from one of them and feeling like he had the role in what is obviously a comedy, only to have the guy tell him as he shut the door, "Just, we didn't want it like that."
